Over the last 100 regular-season games, you won’t find a better team in baseball than the Detroit Tigers , who carry a 67-33 record. That is three games better than the Los Angeles Dodgers , the reigning World Series champions.
Their pitching staff—both the starting rotation and bullpen—has carried them to success. Tarik Skubal and Jack Flaherty are as good a 1-2 punch as any in MLB, and their bullpen has some fiery arms.

The Detroit Tigers Have Been Dominant in the Last 100 Games
Lethal 1-2 Punch
Tarik Skubal needs no introduction. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner has been dominant since the beginning of 2024, and he hasn’t missed a beat in 2025.
Over his last two seasons, Skubal has a record of 23-6, winning 79% of his starts. He carries a 2.38 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 260 2/3 innings of work. His 11.05 K/9 and 4% walk rate make him the best pitcher in baseball. His 320 strikeouts since 2024 are the most in MLB by a starting pitcher, and his 42 walks are the fewest in that stretch as well.
Jack Flaherty returned to the Tigers this offseason after being traded to his hometown Dodgers at the deadline, winning a World Series. Flaherty signed a two-year, $35 million contract with the Tigers in the offseason that includes a player option for 2026.
While Flaherty isn’t putting up Skubal-like numbers, it’s hard to find a more consistent #2 starter than him. His 266 strikeouts since 2024 are tied for 10th best in MLB, and his 3.38 ERA is 13th-best during that time. Flaherty showed his dominance in the playoffs last year for the Dodgers, throwing six shutout innings against the New York Mets in Game 1 of the NLCS and holding the New York Yankees to two runs in Game 1 of the World Series. He will look to bring that back to Detroit this postseason.

Over these last 100 regular-season games, you won’t find a better bullpen in baseball than the Tigers. From last August 11 to the present, the Tigers’ bullpen has a 2.35 ERA, according to ESPN’s David Schoenfield . The Tigers’ best reliever, Tyler Holton , might be one of the best relievers in baseball. In the regular season since 2024, Holton has a 2.50 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 89 appearances. The flamethrowing lefty was dominant in the playoffs last season as well, carrying that momentum into 2025. This season, Holton has struggled a bit, with an ERA of 3.65. This is still an arm to be terrified of in October.
Prolific Offense
The offense has done their fair share of work as well, with Riley Greene and now Spencer Torkelson playing like All-Stars. In his last 100 regular season games, Greene is batting .270 with 19 home runs and 67 RBI. Torkelson struggled to find his groove in 2024, but in 2025, Torkelson hasn’t struggled putting bat to ball. Although his batting average has dipped to .238, he’s still mashing with 13 home runs and 40 RBI in 55 games played. The 25-year-old is on pace for 37 home runs and 114 RBI, which would smash his previous career-highs of 31 home runs and 94 RBI.
The resurgence of Javy Báez and the addition of Gleyber Torres have galvanized the offense, allowing breathing room for what was an overworked bullpen last season. Báez is batting .278 this season, which would be his highest batting average since coming to the Tigers back in 2022. Torres signed with the Tigers on a one-year “prove it” deal, and he’s certainly proved his worth. He currently leads the team in batting average (.285) and OBP (.388). The consistency up and down the lineup has played a huge part in the team’s success, especially this season.
Being in a “small market” like Detroit, the Tigers don’t get the love they deserve, but that stops today. This is not a team you’d want to face in October, because they can beat you with their pitching or hitting. They can arguably deploy the best three starting pitchers in the American League, and can go toe-to-toe with the Dodgers if those two were to meet in the World Series. The claws are out in Detroit, and don’t stand in their way.
