The injury woes continue to mount for the Detroit Tigers , as they have announced RHP Jackson Jobe will go on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 right elbow flexor strain. Jobe left his last start with shoulder discomfort and now has sustained what the Tigers are hoping to be a minor injury. Studies show an injury like this can take four to six weeks, so the team might consider the 60-day IL as well.
RHP Jackson Jobe has been placed on the 15-day injured list (retro to May 29) with a grade one right flexor strain.
RHP Dylan Smith has been selected from Triple-A Toledo to join the first major league roster of his career. Smith will wear uniform number 58.

Jobe had a solid start to his rookie campaign before sustaining his injury, becoming the first Tigers pitcher to have the team win in his first eight career starts. Currently working with a 4.22 ERA in 49 innings, Jobe has served as a great fifth starter for a competitive Tigers team.
Jackson Jobe Placed on Injured List with Elbow Flexor Strain
Injury-Riddled Career
This is the third injury Jobe has sustained in the last three years. He missed significant time in 2023 due to lumbar spine inflammation and then in 2024 with a left hamstring strain. The hope is that a Grade 1 injury means that the worst has been avoided, but everybody adjusts differently to injuries. The question now remains: How long does it take before Jackson Jobe throws a baseball again?
It’ll all come down to the comfort level, but there could be some rehab starts looming in the future. This is a brutal injury, especially for a pitcher like Jobe, who showed immediate promise with the Tigers. According to Tigers’ beat writer Evan Petzold, we can likely expect to see Jobe sometime after the All-Star break in mid-July.
A.J. Hinch on Jackson Jobe’s elbow injury: “I try not to rush to any judgment until we see how his rest goes and see how his rehab goes. … Obviously, it’s tough to lose a guy out of the rotation.”

What’s Next?
The Tigers just called up RHP Dylan Smith from Triple-A Toledo to eat up some innings, and now potentially take over Jackson Jobe’s start scheduled for June 3rd. With Reese Olson and now Jobe on the 15-day IL, the Tigers are going to need to rely on pitchers such as Keider Montero , Casey Mize , and Brant Hurter . These are three reliable arms that the Tigers have turned to and have seen success from. Hurter can be an opener in starts, and Mize has been excellent on the mound, having the ability to provide quality starts for a team that needs to rely a little less on the bullpen.
