A little baseball news to go with your morning coffee.
Happy Tuesday, friends. I hope we’re all still riding the high of that tremendous series opener, and excited for what’s to come for the rest of the week.
Just a few little Tiger bites for today, with an update on Kerry Carpenter’s injury status, some moves in the AL Central, and a story about some big Braves drama that popped up over the weekend (and who doesn’t love a little drama when it’s not your team causing it?)
Let’s jump into it!
Detroit Tigers News:
- An update on Kerry Carpenter: he is currently day-to-day with a mild hamstring strain. (However reports seem to indicate he won’t need to spend any time on the injured list. )
- Mmmm, we love very specific early-season stats.
A couple nuggets from the Tigers’ game notes:
–Skubal is 11-1 at Comerica since the start of last season (1.88).
–Tork’s 14 extra-base hits leads the American League
–Tork has four game-winning RBI already
–A win today would mark the best home start (9-1) since 1942— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) April 20, 2025
- Jason Beck looks at the gritty hitting that helped the Tigers nab the series opener against the Padres.
AL Central News:
- The Guardians have designated pitcher Triston McKenzie for assignment.
- Some White Sox injury updates.
- The Royals are pumped about the hot start of one of their pitching prospects.
- Twins pitcher Joe Ryan is struggling with giving up a lot of home runs at the moment.
- Jose Ramirez is making franchise history with the Guardians.
- Despite Emmanuel Clase’s struggles, the Guardians say they are 100% behind their closer.
MLB News:
- The Rays’ Chandler Simpson is fast. Like, really, really fast.
- There’s some pretty ugly Braves drama going on (involving more evidence of why tweeting while mad and famous is never a good idea), SI has a breakdown.
- This minor league batflip might be the most insane thing I’ve ever seen.
- For pitching nerds, enjoy.

- One Yankees’ bat boy is taking full advantage of that new beard policy.
- The Athletics are calling up the hottest prospect they have had in their system in a while.
- The Rays’ official scorer doesn’t have much to say about the scoring decision that took away Max Fried’s no-no , except, “I made a decision.”
- Well, this is… something.
