A.J. Hinch shares why he loves Greene where he is.
Happy Monday, everyone, and what a fine weekend it was for the Tigers, with a sweep of the Orioles (including a doubleheader on Saturday). It’s a good time to be a Tigers fan, and it’s also a good time to be Riley Greene, who not only busted his hitting slump recently, but had also been doing some incredible things in left field.
That’s the story we’re getting into first, but there’s much more in today’s links: a pretty ugly fan interaction in Cleveland; more bad news for Dodgers pitching; and why the Yankees are done with their closer.
Let’s get into it!
Detroit Tigers News:
- Jason Beck looks at the Tigers’ sweep of the Orioles , and specifically what Tarik Skubal’s stellar performance means for the club.
- We’ve been seeing some dazzling work from Riley Greene in left field lately, proving time and time again that his bat isn’t the only place he provides value. While A.J. Hinch admitted he has the range for center, he explained why he likes Green in left so much :
“One of the reasons I love him in left is not just because it’s not center. He’s actually really good in left field. He has a great feel for where he is. He can get up over the fence. And he seems to make these great plays when it doesn’t seem like the play is possible. And that’s because he sells out from the jump. It’s a unique trait for him, and for us.”
AL Central News:
- A Guardians fan is in hot water after making some comments to Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran during a game . The fan, who was escorted from the game, allegedly taunted Duran about the suicide attempt the outfielder admitted to in the Netflix Red Sox documentary.
