He thinks the Tigers deserved more players on the roster.
Happy Monday, friends. It’s the final week of play before the All-Star Break, and the Tigers will have some interesting challenges of them in the final week of play. Tarik Skubal was announced as a member of the AL pitching rotation, becoming the fourth Tiger to get onto the All-Star roster. Of course, as we’ll see below, he had some things to say about his inclusion and the lack of inclusion of other teammates.
There’s more All-Star news below, a “Legend” selection, a KPop star who might be buying into the A’s, and so much more.
So grab your morning coffee, sit back, relax, and catch up on the weekend’s baseball news.
Detroit Tigers News:
- While Tarik Skubal is happy to be a 2025 All-Star, he wasn’t shy about saying that he thought the Tigers were actually under-represented on the team . He said:
“I think there’s a lot more deserving guys on our team. We got the best record in the American League. I would like to think we’d be more represented there.”
- Speaking of Skubal, he achieved historical status this weekend becoming one of only four left-handed pitchers to compile a specific set of stats :
With that start, Skubal became the fourth lefty in MLB history to have at least three starts in a single season featuring no runs allowed, no walks allowed, and 10 or more strikeouts. The others? Sandy Koufax in 1965, Randy Johnson in 2004, and Clayton Kershaw in 2015. That’s some pretty special company. Two are Hall of Famers and Kershaw will undoubtedly be headed there when he retires.
AL Central News:
- Stephen Vogt was not amused by one of his coaches pranking him during the Guardians’ slump.
- The Guardians’ losing streak is now at 10 games.
- Brooks Lee and the Twins won a weekend game in the most insane way possible.
- A sad loss for baseball and the White Sox.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Major League pitcher Bobby Jenks.
Jenks pitched for the White Sox from 2005 until 2010 and for the Red Sox in 2011. In his time in Chicago, Jenks amassed 173 saves, including back-to-back seasons of 40+ saves in 2006 and 2007.… pic.twitter.com/krehQHUvza
