Mother’s Day takes over MLB.
Happy Monday, friends! We’re coming off a rough loss for the Tigers on Sunday, but aside from the loss, it was also Mother’s Day. Baseball players all around MLB were celebrating their mothers. In the case of the Tigers, Mary Jung had to split her attention between two sons in the same game!
Aside from getting to talk about moms, we also have solid proof that the new Pope is a White Sox fan (sorry Cubs!), and another manager has been axed.
Let’s get into it!
Detroit Tigers News:
- Mary Jung had to support both her sons on Mother’s Day —even sporting a custom split jersey—as Jace took the field for the Tigers and Josh took the field for the Rangers.
- Speaking of the Jung brothers, they had a little fun playing in-game tic-tac-toe.
- This weekend, Tarik Skubal made MLB history, and it’s all the more impressive if you consider how rough Skubal’s 2025 start was.
Tarik Skubal of the @tigers is the only MLB pitcher to have 50+ strikeouts, no more than 1 walk and an ERA under 1.00 over a 6-start span (since ERA became an official stat in both leagues in 1913). pic.twitter.com/Rd4XOcL4Th
