We’re not the only ones noticing Spencer’s tremendous start to the season.
A quiet day in the news cycle was the perfect time for Spencer Torkelson to get a little attention on the national stage, as his improved batting is getting its due. He’s the main focus for Tigers news today, but in other MLB tidbits, the Twins are getting at least one award this season, Team USA has announced their captain for the World Baseball Classic, and an unexpected team will be featured on ESPN this summer.
Let’s jump into it!
Detroit Tigers News:
- Tom Verducci looks at which hitters have improved the most this season over previous years, and it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Spencer Torkelson’s name was among those mentioned. In his story, Verducci says of Torkelson , “[He] is crushing the ball, especially against spin. He leads MLB in slugging percentage increase (+.299). He does not appear to have made major changes, but he has tweaked his setup.” None of this will come as a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention this month, but it’s still nice to see Torkelson getting national attention for his improvements.
