We love a comeback king.
Happy Wednesday everyone! The Tigers are coming off a big walk-off win from last night, and we’re gearing up to see if Tarik Skubal can complete the sweep against the Red Sox before they head off on another road trip.
The biggest story in baseball is likely the revelation that Rob Manfred has lifted the lifetime bans against players like Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson who were previously ineligible for consideration and Hall of Fame voting. Whether they’ll be included in the Hall in the future is up to Eras Committee voters, and certainly not a sure thing, but this is an interesting development.
But as far as Tigers news, we’re just talking about how fun Javier Baez is, so let’s jump into it!

- Jay Jaffe looks at how Javier Baez has become fun again. Something we saw in spades on Tuesday evening. Now, it’s Jay Jaffe, so I highly recommend you read the whole piece, but here’s a little taste of the article :
Even while going hitless on Friday and Sunday against the Rangers, the 32-year-old Báez is hitting .300/.336/.455 with three homers and a 127 wRC+. The peripherals underlying that are admittedly shaky, and he’s walking just 3.4% of the time, but thanks to positive defensive contributions at comparatively unfamiliar positions, he’s fourth among the team’s position players with 1.1 WAR — and he’s done it for a team that has the AL’s best record (26-15, .634) and largest division lead (2 1/2 games). For the first time in awhile, watching him is a whole lot of fun.
AL Central News:
- The Royals have signed 45-year-old veteran pitcher Rich Hill to a minor league deal.
- Guardians’ pitcher Ben Lively is headed to the IL.
MLB News:
- This is wild news.
EXCLUSIVE: MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred removes Pete Rose, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson from MLB’s permanent ineligible list.
Rose and Jackson– baseball’s two pariahs, stained by gambling– now have a clear pathway for consideration for Baseball’s Hall of Fame.
