San Antonio Spurs Signal Title Run With This Huge Trade Proposal

November 26, 2025 by Heavy

The San Antonio Spurs were one of the pleasant surprises in the NBA during the first couple of weeks of the season. With Victor Wembanyama leading the way, the Spurs jumped out to a hot start and held the top spot in the West.

With Wembanyama hurt, the Spurs have fallen to fifth in the Western Conference standings. Once Wembanyama comes back, they have a real shot to battle the Thunder for the Western Conference crown.

A trade proposal from Bleacher Report has the Spurs going after Trey Murphy III, who would be the perfect fit on the wing for a team that needs more shooting.

The San Antonio Spurs Make Big Move For Trey Murphy III in Trade Proposal

Here is the full trade proposal: Trey Murphy III and Saddiq Bey to the San Antonio Spurs for Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, Carter Bryant , a 2026 second-round pick (via NOP or POR), a 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), a 2028 second-round pick (via NOP), and a 2031 first-round pick (via SAS or SAC).

Trading Johnson and Sochan hurts San Antonio’s bench, but adding Bey helps with that issue. Both Murphy III and Bey are the perfect complementary players for Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox . Adding guys who can help make those guys better is what the Spurs are going for.

Murphy III is a good shooter , solid rebounder, and great perimeter defender. That is the perfect player to have at the wing spot in the starting lineup for how the rest of the roster is built. San Antonio doesn’t neuter the bench depth with a trade like this, either.

San Antonio Might Speed Up Its Timeline

The leap Wembanyama made this season speeds up the Spurs’ timeline. They can now start thinking about winning a title right now. Dylan Harper still ensures they are building for the future, too. Yet, teams don’t have an answer for Wembanyama on the defensive end of the court.

Even if the Spurs don’t trade for Murphy III and Bey, they could make a move for someone else. San Antonio has assets that they can use to make a win-now move. That is something that the front office will consider as the trade deadline nears.
