Promising Giants WR’s Season Ends in Abrupt Twist: Report

December 31, 2025 by Heavy

The New York Giants elected to end the 2025 campaigns of wide receiver Beaux Collins and offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu ahead of Week 18, as the news was revealed on the December 31 edition of the NFL transaction log.

NFL insider Aaron Wilson also relayed the update for fans on X, informing: “Giants‘ Beaux Collins, Joshua Ezeudu practice periods expired.” He added that each of their seasons is now “over,” and both will remain on the injured reserve.

Collins and Ezeudu had been working their way back for a while now, with the Giants opening their practice windows 21 days ago, but it appears neither was able to make that final push to get themselves back onto the field.

Collins has been dealing with a concussion and “neck” injury, while Ezeudu initially suffered a “calf” injury. The latter will hit free agency this March, barring an extension, and the former third-rounder will go down as another draft miss for general manager Joe Schoen and company.

Giants WR Beaux Collins Looked Like a Diamond in the Rough Throughout the Spring & Summer

Collins was a priority undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. Hailing from such a big program, most fans knew of him heading into Giants OTAs and training camp, and Collins produced at every turn, building up some hype before his rookie campaign.

Unfortunately, the promising rookie failed to live up to that early hype throughout the season, with just 2 catches for a total of 25 yards .

Collins also had one or two early-season blunders that relegated him to the depths of the Giants’ WR corps before his injury. Against the New Orleans Saints , for example, Collins appeared to stop his route , which led to a crucial Jaxson Dart interception.

Overall, it wasn’t the rookie season that everyone hoped for, especially when you consider the opportunity at wide receiver following the Malik Nabers injury. Collins will look to build on his hot start next spring and summer, assuming the Giants choose to retain him for another year of development.

Joshua Ezeudu May Have Played Final Snap With Giants After Week 18 News

As noted above, Ezeudu is set to hit free agency in 2026. Like all non-first-round draft picks, the offensive tackle prospect signed a four-year deal as a rookie. Being that he was selected in 2022, that contract is now expiring.

Considering Ezeudu’s contract situation, this injury news is actually more significant for him than it is for Collins.

The Giants only have one game left on the schedule, and although it would have been nice to see Collins come back and get some reps, he should still be with the team in 2026. For Ezeudu, this could be the end of his Big Blue career, and it’s almost fitting.

What better way to sum up Ezeudu’s lackluster career than a unceremonious conclusion on IR? The Giants desperately tried to make the Ezeudu pick work, refusing to cut him despite a lack of development, and it just never came to fruition for the former North Carolina blocker.

There is a world where the Giants bring back Ezeudu on a cheap, one-year deal, but why bother? Ezeudu was a cut candidate this summer, and it feels like he’s been narrowly surviving the chopping block since his draft year.

At this point, both the Giants and Ezeudu would probably be better off moving on.
