The 2025 MLB Draft begins at 6 p.m. ET on MLB and ESPN
The 2025 MLB Draft officially begins today! We’ve been previewing the draft all week with mock draft coverage and player summaries for what to expect from Detroit in the first round or two. Now, we’re here to give you all the details for how to follow along with this year’s draft.
Veteran prospect hounds will notice a few changes from recent years; most notably, the draft is split over two days this year, instead of three. This means Day 1, starting this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, will cover three rounds and all the associated compensation ‘bonus’ rounds. The first 43, which is somehow the first round, will be covered by both MLB Network and ESPN. The rest of Day 1 will be on MLB Network only. Rounds 4-20 will be covered on MLB.com starting Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET.
This year, the Detroit Tigers have two first-round picks, 24th and 34th. We’ll be covering the entire draft here at BlessYouBoys through our Draft Tracker and player summaries for everyone the Tigers draft. Expect the Tigers’ bonus pool to factor into their decisions late on day 1; at $10,990,800, the Tigers are 17th in total bonus pool funds, their lowest placement since Scott Harris took over. If that’s the price to pay for MLB’s best record, so be it.
Stick around and follow along the entire draft starting later tonight. The Draft Tracker will serve as an Open Thread for everyone to share their excitement or displeasure with Scott Harris.
