Here’s what is on the slate in Florida during spring training for the Detroit Tigers, from Feb. 22 to March 23.
The start of Major League Baseball’s spring training season is right around the corner! With around five weeks remaining until the first exhibition pitch is thrown, it is time to take a look at the schedule that the Detroit Tigers will face in Florida now that the game times have been set.
The Tigers will play in 30-plus games over the course of a month in the Sunshine State starting on Feb. 22 in Lakeland, where they host the Philadelphia Phillies inside Joker Marchant Stadium; the first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET. The final game of the exhibition season will be played at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater against those same Phils on March 23 starting at 12:05 p.m. ET.
AJ Hinch’s only split-squad day listed comes on Feb. 27, when half the team heads down to Charlotte to take on the Tampa Bay Rays while the rest stay in Polk County to face the Boston Red Sox . The start times for those games are also both 1:05 p.m. ET.
The March 5 rematch in Lakeland against the Phillies is the only game scheduled for broadcast and will be shown on ESPN. That game begins at 1:05 p.m. ET.
Finally this season’s spring breakout game is set for March 16, with the Tigers’ farm system taking on the Atlanta Braves’ prospect team.
