Detroit returns home to welcome Tampa Bay to Comerica Park.
The Detroit Tigers finished up a road sweep of the Cleveland Guardians this weekend with a 7-2 extra-inning victory on Sunday night — an excellent bounceback from their disappointing series at the Washington Nationals prior.
Now, AJ Hinch and Co. return home to the comfortable confines of Comerica Park to host the Tampa Bay Rays , who are coming off a series loss at the Minnesota Twins , two games to one, over the past few days. Additionally, they have won just six of their last 10 matchups, but they do sport a robust plus-69 run differential.
Meanwhile, the Motor City Kitties continue to cruise along atop the major league standings, holding a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers coming into the series. Their run differential is the second-best in baseball at plus-106, trailing only the Chicago Cubs at plus-126.
To open up the series, it appears the Tigers will resort to a bullpen game as the starter has yet to be announced as of the time of publication, while the Rays send Shane Baz — who got pummeled by Detroit last time he saw them, but his team still earned the win — to the bump.
