Detroit will play a three-game series against ALC rival Minnesota this weekend.
The Detroit Tigers wrapped up their three-game set with the Athletics on Thursday with an 8-0 victory inside Comerica Park, giving the home team a series win heading into the second leg of the homestand.
Next up are the Minnesota Twins , who arrive in town 11.5 games behind the Motor City Kitties for the top spot in the American League Central. The Twinkies have won just three of their last 10 games, but they did manage to win two straight over the Seattle Mariners at home ahead of this weekend, splitting their four-game series.
Meanwhile, the Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers remain tied for the best record in Major League Baseball while Detroit owns the third-best run differential at plus-94.
On Friday evening, MLB Probable Pitchers has Sawyer Gipson-Long listed as the starter — but as we have seen prior, someone else usually gets swapped in as an opener in the hours ahead of game time. Meanwhile, we still do not know who Minnesota plans on pitching.
