After splitting their first two series of the 2025 season on the road, the Tigers now head home.
After spending the first six games of the 2025 campaign on the road, the Detroit Tigers come home on Friday to open up a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox inside Comerica Park.
The season started with a hard-fought sweep at the Los Angeles Dodgers , after which AJ Hinch’s team rebounded to take two of three from the Seattle Mariners . Those results have them in a five-way tie for first (and also last) place in the American League Central currently.
Speaking of fellow division teams, the Sox are coming off the worst MLB season ever, and while they did not make any remarkable improvements during the offseason, there is only one direction for them to go, and that is up.
Friday afternoon’s affair features right-hander Jack Flaherty taking on right Jonathan Cannon. Here is a quick look at the pitching matchups.

Flaherty’s first outing of the young season came against the Dodgers, who he held to two runs — both scored on a two-run home run — on two hits and two walks while striking out five and hitting a batter. The 29-year-old did not figure in the decision, and the Tigers eventually lost the game in the 10th inning, 8-5.
Cannon’s 2025 debut went a bit better, tossing five frames of scoreless ball against the Los Angeles Angels, scattering four hits and three walks while striking out five. Like Flaherty, he also was not held accountable for the game’s result, which was ultimately a 1-0 loss — the first of the season for the ChiSox.
