After a picture-perfect finish to Tuesday night’s win in extras, Detroit can finish its home stand with a sweep.
After dropping the first half of their current six-game homestand to the Texas Rangers , the Detroit Tigers clinched a series win in the second game against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
While Monday night’s victory came in blowout fashion, the next one was a white-knuckle affair that lasted until the 11th inning. It was then that Javier Baez continued his resurgence with a three-run, walk-off home run to give the good guys a 10-9 triumph .
The win keeps Detroit at the top of the American League standings overall and in the Central Division. It also ties Detroit with the New York Mets for the best record in baseball.
The Tigers now have a chance to sweep the Sox out of Comerica Park on Wednesday night, and they will do so with the reigning AL Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal — who has resumed the beast mode that earned him that honor — on the mound.
In the other corner is rookie Hunter Dobbins, a 25-year-old out of Texas Tech in the 8th round of the 2021 MLB draft .
