Detroit is wrapping up the second leg of its home stand with its second game against Boston this week.
The Detroit Tigers got back into the win column in epic fashion Monday night, thrashing the visiting Boston Red Sox , 14-2 , to take the first of the three-game weekday series. A nine-run third inning outburst was more than enough for the home team to cruise to victory.
The triumph kept AJ Hinch and Co. at the top of the standings in the American League overall as well as their 2.5-game lead in the Central Division. The Los Angeles Dodgers hold a half-game lead over the Olde English D overall, with the New York Mets tied with the Tigers record-wise.
Detroit and Boston will battle it out on Tuesday night, and once again, the two teams are sending starters to the mound with negative fWAR values. It will be Tyler Holton filling in for a spot start for the Motor City Kitties against Brayan Bello for the BoSox.
