The Tigers fell to the Ranger on Saturday but can still take the rubber match on Sunday.
Things did not quite go the way Detroit Tigers fans had hoped on Saturday night, with the visiting Texas Rangers evening up their three-game series with a whopping 10-3 victory at Comerica Park.
Starter Jack Flaherty once again looked flat as AJ Hinch’s team lost their sixth-straight game with him on the mound and seventh out of his eight total appearances. The righthander earned the losing decision in five of those and has been trending downward as the season wears on.
The good news is that the Motor City Kitties remain the top team in the American League according to record, though the San Diego Padres have the overall lead by virtue of win percentage. They also maintained their 2.5-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians despite the loss.
More good news: the Olde English D still has a chance to earn the series win with a victory in the rubber match on Sunday afternoon. The good guys will have Baby Face Reese Olson up on the bump while the bad boys send Nathan Eovaldi to the hill to do battle.
