Winless in their first three games of the 2025 MLB campaign, the Tigers look to crack the win column on Monday night.
The Detroit Tigers got off to a tough start to the 2025 MLB season with a three-game sweep out on the West Coast. To be fair, the opponent was the juggernaut Los Angeles Dodgers and the good guys certainly put up a heck of a fight in the losing cause.
While it is a bit demoralizing to open up the schedule with a trio of losses, there are still 159 more games to play.
Next up on the docket for A.J. Hinch’s squad is a three-gamer at the Seattle Mariners that will stretch across the end of March into the beginning of April. The M’s have split their first four games at home against the Athletics to open up the schedule, bookending a pair of losses between an opening day win and a victory last time out.
It will be Jackson Jobe making his first-ever major league start on Monday, while 25-year-old Emerson Hancock toes the bump for the homer team. Take a look at the details for the game below.

Jobe has just four regular-season innings plus 1 2⁄3 in the playoffs under his belt entering what should be his true rookie season. The 22-year-old looked strong in spring training, tossing 16 1⁄3 frames with a 3.86 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while striking out 13 against six walks. It is time to let the young man off the leash and see what he can do in the bogs.
Hancock has a total of 72 2⁄3 innings in the big leagues over two seasons, in which he has put up a cumulative 4.71 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP while striking out 45 against 22 walks; he allowed 13 home runs over that span as well. He threw 13 2⁄3 innings of spring training ball, recording a mediocre 4.61 ERA but an obese 1.61 WHIP — but 14 strikeouts to his three walks.
This seems like the kind of matchup the Tigers can take advantage of. But will they? Tune in and find out.
