The Tigers play in a doubleheader on Thursday in an attempt to take the series and even complete the sweep.
After a two-day layoff that included a weather-postponed matchup on Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers resumed play on Wednesday night and took the series opener from the Colorado Rockies in a battle that was much closer than expected.
Ultimately, the good guys prevailed 8-6 on a wild night at Coors Field.
That postponed game was moved to Thursday and will be played in piggyback fashion after the afternoon session. Splitting the doubleheader would give AJ Hinch’s crew yet another series win, while sweeping the pair would give them a series sweep as well.
Casey Mize will be first up for the Tigers, who has taken major steps forward this season in fulfilling the potential that made him a No. 1 overall draft pick. He will face a solid Kyle Freeland, whose numbers look pretty similar to Mize’s.
After that, Detroit’s probable pitcher is TBD, but it will most likely be Keider Montero. He will face off with Tanner Gordon, who makes his 2025 MLB debut in the second game.
