Can the Motor City Kitties keep up their series-winning ways in Milwaukee? We’ll find out this week.
If the Detroit Tigers keep winning two out of every three games, this is going to be one heck of a summer for the Olde English D.
However, while AJ Hinch’s squad has won four-straight series, they have failed to complete the sweep in three of those four, with the lone exception coming at home against the Chicago White Sox . But this is just nitpicking — the Tigers are looking pretty good so far, despite a few significant injuries affecting the roster.
The next stop for the team is in Milwaukee, where they face the Brewers for the second half of their current six-game road trip. The Brew Crew lost their first four games of the season, starting with a three-game sweep at the New York Yankees and continuing into the first game of their series with Kansas City.
From there, they won eight of the next 12 games and three-straight series before stumbling at the Arizona Diamondbacks , losing the last two after taking the first game of the series. So, both the Tigers and Brewers come into this one having lost their most recent games.
The week begins with Skubal taking the mound after a bounce-back effort last time out against an old friend everyone remembers fondly, Tyler Alexander.

Skubal regained his groove last time out against the New York Yankees after looking a bit lost in his two starts to open the 2025 campaign. He earned the first (of hopefully many) quality start of the year, throwing six scoreless innings on four hits and zero walks while striking out six.
The reigning AL Cy Young award winner also saw his fWAR flip from the negative to the positive side after his last appearance, moving up from minus-0.1.
Alexander is a familiar face sporting a familiar mustache and will take the mound opposite Skubal for a lefty-lefty matchup. His first two appearances of the season came out of the bullpen: first throwing a one-hit scoreless frame and second allowing two runs on a hit and three walks in 2 1⁄3 innings.
As a starter, he earned the win the first time around against the Cincinnatti Reds, shutting out and no-hitting them over 5 2⁄3 frames while walking three and striking out six. It was in his second start against the Colorado Rockies that he allowed his first home run of the season — a two-run shot that — and was limited to just 3 2⁄3 frames in what turned out to be a 17-2 team win.
Side note on Todd the Painter: his current 0.1 fWAR matches Fangraph’s full season expectation for the crafty southpaw.
