The Tigers took the roadtrip opener in Minneapolis on Friday night and look to do the same again on Saturday afternoon.
The Detroit Tigers took the opening game of a three-game series at the Minnesota Twins on Friday night, 7-6 , to start their road trip off on a strong note.
Reese Olson got roughed up initially, but the bullpen held up down the stretch while the offense got hot, giving the Olde English D its eighth win of the year so far. The hit parade was led by Dillon Dingler, who went 3-for-5 with a walk and a ribbie.
Now, AJ Hinch’s squad can clinch their fourth-straight series win on Saturday afternoon at Target Field. The pitching matchup features Detroit’s rookie sensation Jackson Jobe up against a grizzled veteran in Chris Paddack.
The good news is that this game will be on the regular broadcast channels.

Jobe’s rookie campaign is off to a rough start on the stat line, but amazingly, the Tigers have won both of his appearances so far in 2025. His season debut against the Seattle Mariners saw the 22-year-old tossed four frames of three-run ball on three hits — two of them home runs — and four walks while striking out three.
The righty’s next appearance was a little bit better, throwing five frames of three-run ball — one unearned — on four hits and three walks while striking out four. The greenhorn still has a ways to go before he gets his big league footing.
Paddack is now in his seventh season in the bogs, and truth be told, he has been the epitome of mediocre, having amassed 6.3 fWAR over that stretch (including 2025 numbers). His best campaign came as a rookie in 2019 with the San Diego Padres when he racked up 2.4 fWAR over 140 2⁄3 innings.
If you think Jobe started off on the wrong foot, this 29-year-old righty was absolutely barraged in his season debut by the Chicago White Sox , who bludgeoned him for nine runs on six hits — half of which were homers — while walking four and striking out two over 3 1⁄3 innings. He reached the four-inning mark the next time out against the Houston Astros but still got spanked for four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out a pair.
