Fresh off a sweep of the Chicago White Sox, Detroit not turns its attention to the visiting Bronx Bombers.
The Detroit Tigers crossed the .500 mark on Sunday with a miraculous 4-3 win against the Chicago White Sox thanks to a three-run ninth-inning rally. Javy Baez led the team with three hits, and despite a rough start, Jackson Jobe corrected the ship well enough to throw five frames of two-run ball.
AJ Hinch and Co. will remain at home for the next series — a three-game set against the New York Yankees starting on Monday. The pinstripers swept the Milwaukee Brewers at home to open the season before dropping two of three to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Bronx; they then bounced back by taking two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road.
Both teams are among the major league’s top five in all three of the categories that comprise OPS and have played close in all of their games so far.
Be aware that the start times for this series were moved up to accommodate the cold April nights inside Comerica Park. Instead, the next three games will all be afternoon affairs.

RODÓN

Mize’s first outing of the 2025 campaign against the Seattle Mariners was an encouraging one, throwing 5 2⁄3 innings of one-hit ball while walking three and striking out six. He kept ahead of batters with with his riding four-seamer while pulling the string with a seemingly improved splitfinger pitch, mixing the slider, change and sinker in there as well.
However, despite throwing only 82 pitches, he appeared to be running out of gas by the end of his outing.
Rodón has appeared in two games so far, with polar opposite results. In his first outing against the Milwaukee Brewers, the 32-year-old held them to just one run on four hits (including a home run) and two walks while striking out seven over 5 1⁄3 frames to earn the win.
Next time out against the Arizona Diamondbacks, he made it to the six inning mark but not before coughing up four runs on three hits (plus another dinger) and four walks while striking out five to take the L.
