It’s okay if you want to cheer for someone else for the rest of the season.
Welcome back to the Friday Open Threads, we’ll be bringing you questions and prompts all through the offseason. While baseball is still ongoing, the Tigers’ journey has come to an unfortunate end (though wow, what a wild ride it was!)
For our first Open Thread back, it seems like a good time to ask: which team bandwagon will you be hopping on for the remainder of the season? Bandwagoning can get a bad wrap, with accusations of fake-fandom. In my opinion, that’s an unjust label to throw on people who just want to have a horse in the race.
While the Tigers may be out, four teams remain in the Championship Series. For the AL, we’ve got the Yankees and Guardians. For the NL, we’ve got the Dodgers and Mets. Now, personally, I was hoping for an all-chaos Championship Series with the Tigers, Royals, Mets, and Padres going the distance, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
So who will you be getting behind for the rest of the Championship Series and hopefully into the World Series? Personally, I’m getting behind the Mets. The growing legend of Francisco Lindor and big grand slam baseball has just been fun to watch. But maybe you’ll go for Ohtani getting a ring, or Judge and Soto bringing the trophy back to the Bronx. There’s no wrong answer (though I suspect not a lot of folks will take the Guardians thanks to them besting the Tigers), but who is your pick?
