Toledo Mud Hens 9, Louisville 4 (box )
The Mud Hens had another big night at the plate to take down Louisville for the second night in a row.
Bryan Sammons gave the Hens a good outing, allowing just a run in the third inning on a Hernan Perez solo shot. In the bottom half, they got that run back and more.
Justice Bigbie reached on an error to start things off. Stephen Scott and Andrew Navigato followed with doubles, scoring two runs. Akil Baddoo doubled in Navigato, and Spencer Torkelson walked. Baddoo then stole third, scoring on a Jace Jung single to take a 4-1 lead.
In the fifth, Torkelson singled with one out and Jung walked. A Dillon Dingler 401 foot double off the center field wall scored Torkelson. Jung and Dingler scored on a Ryan Kreidler double, and it was 7-1.
Andrew Magno allowed three runs in the top of the seventh, but in the bottom half Torkelson singled and Dingler homered to make it 9-4. That was Dingler’s fourth homer in the last three games, running his total to 16 on the season, and it was a missile.

Erie SeaWolves 5, Altoona Curve 2 (box )
The SeaWolves built an nice early lead and Garrett Burhenn and the bullpen made it hold up to beat Altoona on Wednesday.
The offense got rolling in the second inning. Chris Meyers doubled with one out and Ben Malgeri drove an opposite field two-run shot for a quick 2-0 lead.
Burhenn surrendered a run in the top of the third, but the SeaWolves answered right back with a three-run third inning. Carlos Mendoza and Hao-Yu Lee led off with walks and with one out, a passed ball moved them up 90 feet. Jake Holton singled them both home, and Chris Meyers doubled again, driving in Holton to make it 5-1.
Burhenn spun six innings of two run ball, striking out three with one walk allowed. Matt Seelinger and Jake Higginbotham were nearly perfect in relief.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, West Michigan Whitecap 6 (box )
The Lugnuts took a 2-0 lead in the series by stunning the Whitecaps with a late comeback on Wednesday.
Max Clark got the ‘Caps started, leading off the bottom of the first with a single. Max Anderson walked, Kevin McGonigle popped out, and Robert Campos lined an RBI single to left for a 1-0 lead.
They wouldn’t get anymore, and while Carlos Marcano spun a good game, a deflected ball that went for an infield single and a Luke Gold error at first resulted in two unearned runs coming across.
The Lugnuts held a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth. McGonigle, Campos, Gold, and Patrick Lee singled in order to start the inning. Jim Jarvis pulled a hot grounder through the right side of the infield to clear the bases and make it 5-2 ‘Caps. Josh Crouch then doubled in Jarvis to complete the ‘Caps scoring in this one.
Unfortunately, Zack Hess was torched for four runs in the eighth as the Lugnuts tied the game. A McGonigle throwing error led to a blown save for Kohlhepp, and the Whitecaps couldn’t answer back in the bottom of the ninth.

Bradenton Marauders 3, Lakeland Flying Tigers 2 (box )
The Marauders answered back after the Flying Tigers took the first game of the series on Tuesday.
Zack Lee has been outstanding for the Flying Tigers but he had a rare mediocre outing in this one. He gave up a run in the second inning, but the offense did answer back.
In the top of the third, Clayton Campbell led off with a single, and Cristian Santana walked. A strike out and a walk followed, but Andrew Jenkins came up with a single to score Campbell, and Jose De La Cruz singled in Santana with the help of an error.
That 2-1 lead didn’t last long. In the bottom of the fifth, Lee surrendered a single and then a two-run shot that was the difference in this one.
