Like always, too many games go unbroadcasted, but it’s finally time for an exciting season to get underway.
A week before spring training officially kickstarts with pitchers and catchers reporting on February 12th, FanDuel Sports Network Detroit has released the broadcast schedule.
There’s the typical mixture of TV broadcasts, radio broadcasts, and games without any broadcast at all. In a bit of good news, 9 games will be on TV at FanDuel Sports Network Detroit this year, a huge upgrade from last year’s 6 with Bally Sports Detroit.
An additional 20 broadcasts will be available on radio, either 97.1 FM or 1270 AM. Alas, the remaining 11 games go unseen from home. After a long and, until recently, rather dull winter, fans will finally get their first taste of Jason Benetti in play-by-play on TV and Dan Dickerson on the radio for 2025. The entire schedule will follow, with a few highlights mentioned here.

After a short ramp-up period, games will start on Feb. 22 with a home game against the Phillies ’ squad, broadcast on radio. The first TV game comes the following day against the reigning AL Champion Yankees , but is covered by the infamous Yankees broadcast. Benetti’s spring debut will come in an early look at the division favorite Twins on February 26th. Expect a few of the away games to be covered by the other team’s broadcast teams.
A major highlight of the schedule is the return of the Spring Breakout game on March 16th against the Atlanta Braves . This is the opportunity to see Detroit’s star prospects face off against Atlanta’s. Last year’s Tigers team featured Max Clark, Jace Jung, Troy Melton, and Brant Hurter; look for Clark and Melton to return and be joined by studs like Kevin McGonigle and Thayron Liranzo in this year’s matchup.
No broadcast is currently announced, but last year’s was shown on MLB. Presumably, they’ll also showcase this year’s slate of Breakout Games, so expect an announcement from MLB itself with more details.
