Bucks GM Has Bold Response To Giannis Antetokounmpo Trades

December 28, 2025 by Heavy

The Milwaukee Bucks are in one of the toughest situations around the league while attempting to figure out their future. Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the face of the franchise, but the team’s lackluster roster has put them in trade rumors going back to the offseason. Teams around the league have monitored the potential of Antetokounmpo requesting a trade to contend on a better roster.

Recent stories about Antetokounmpo’s time in Milwaukee ending started after his injury led to the Bucks falling lower in the standings as the eleventh seed struggling to get into the play-in race. Giannis has tried to make it clear that he’s committed to the Bucks roster after his return in a win against the Chicago Bulls.

NBA reporter Mike Scotto shared that Milwaukee’s front office is now telling opposing teams that Antetokounmpo is not going anywhere:

“I’ve spoken to plenty of GMs that would love to have Giannis and have tried to talk to Bucks GM Jon Horst about acquiring him and quite frankly, he’s not going anywhere. They they’ve been telling me the Bucks have been steadfast that he’s not going anywhere.”

The Bucks will likely only trade Antetokounmpo if he is the one to request it due to his stature as arguably the greatest player in franchise history. Giannis committing to the team for the rest of this season would end any chance of a realistic move.

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo Commit To Bucks?

The comments from Antetokounmpo have ranged from talking about wanting to contend for an NBA Championship to wanting to give his all to Milwaukee. Both things can be true together, but one of the two will have to end at some point, unless the team can improve its roster to truly contend at the highest level.

Antetokounmpo used his first post-game interview back to tell the media to stop asking if he’s committed to the team. The comments saw Giannis saying it was disrespectful to himself, his teammates, and the front office to continue asking if he wants to remain a member of the Bucks franchise.

Rumored interested teams like the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs having stellar seasons may see them no longer wanting to risk harming their roster via a blockbuster trade. Antetokounmpo’s limited trade options to move to a contender easily could be a reason for him giving hints that he wants to stick it out with Milwaukee this season.

Can Giannis Antetokounmpo Win In Milwaukee?

The Bucks have already won an NBA Championship in the Giannis era and have acquired multiple stars throughout the years to make him happy. Jrue Holiday , Damian Lillard , and Myles Turner all joined Milwaukee at various points to keep Antetokounmpo happy.

Rumors indicate that the Bucks hopes to make another move at the deadline this year to improve the roster. The dream scenario would be getting hot to move into a late playoff seed with Giannis back and having a better chance at upsetting top seeds.

Unfortunately, their limitations with the salary caps would see them having to take a chance on some risky contracts from other teams. It remains highly unlikely Antetokounmpo will contend for an NBA Championship any time soon to keep this a popular topic until a move is made.
