Welcome to the midsummer Airing of the Grievances! Let’s talk turkey while the All-Star festivities unfurl.
The 2025 MLB All-Star break is finally here now that the Detroit Tigers have wrapped up their final series before the big league festivities this week. However, the Motor City Kitties look like they left for Atlanta several days before the events unfurl.
AJ Hinch and Co. enter the off-week having split their last 10 games evenly, though a sweep at home at the hands of the Seattle Mariners — who outscored the home team 35-14 in the three-game set — gives them a four-game skid heading into the break. Needless to say, the natives are getting restless, but how justified are their concerns?
The Olde English D still holds the best record in all of Major League Baseball with at least a game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers as of the time of publication, as well as a 1.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs . The double-digit lead in the American League Central remains robust as well, thanks in large part to the floundering of fellow divisional peers.
And run differential? Sure, those blowout losses on Friday and Saturday stung like the dickens, but the team’s run differential is still the third-best in the bogs at plus-87.
Few doubt that this team could use some reinforcements via some trades, but how much are the Tigers willing to give up for a top-tier player? Will Detroit take advantage of its tremendous start and Tarik Skubal’s apparent road to a second-straight Cy Young award? Or will Scott Harris hold pat and let the opportunity slip by?
These topics, as well as overflow from the MLB draft and all of the other events happening at the moment, are why this discussion thread is up for our readers. Please feel free to let us know what you are thinking in the comments section below.
