NHL predictions

Welcome back to another NHL Predictions. Each day our writers here at Last Word on Hockey look at the games and give in-depth analysis. Our team breaks down the key matchups, storylines, and stats, then makes predictions based on how they might play out. For this edition, we will look at the Toronto Maple Leafs  taking on the Florida Panthers in this important Game 4 of their second-round series. Don’t forget to check out more NHL Predictions , as our writers continue this series throughout the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

NHL Predictions

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets

Series Head-to-Head: Stars 1-1 Jets

Time: 4:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

TV: TruTV, TNT, TVAS, CBC, Sportsnet, Max

We open up NHL predictions with an important Game 3 between the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars . Connor Hellebuyck looked like his old self in Game 2 as Winnipeg went on to tie the series. The American netminder made 21 saves as the Jets got back on track. Kyle Connor leads the club in points this post-season with 12.

Jake Oettinger and the Stars will need to get back on track if it wants to retain home-ice for the rest of the series. Oettinger will once again draw the start for Dallas. Mikko Rantanen and the rest of the Stars’ offence was slowed down in Game 2. However, Rantanen has been great this playoff run and leads the league in goals with eight so far.

This will be a tough game to figure, but the Stars get the win in a tight one.

Prediction: Stars win 3-2.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Florida Panthers

Series Head-to-Head: Maple Leafs 2-1 Panthers

Time: 7  p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

TV: TruTV, TNT, TVAS, CBC, Sportsnet, Max

Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Panthers looking to tie the series against the Maple Leafs. Anthony Stolarz is progressing in his recovery, but Joseph Woll should draw the start once again for the Maple Leafs. Toronto had the lead in Game 3, but couldn’t close the deal to get that coveted 3-0 series lead. William Nylander leads the team in points with 15 while Mitch Marner has 12 so far.

Sergei Bobrovsky looked much better in Game 3 and should get the start again for Florida. Brad Marchand once again tormented the Maple Leafs by bagging the overtime-winner to get the Cats back into the series. Sam Reinhart , Anton Lundell , Eetu Luostarinen and Marchand each lead Florida with eight points so far this post-season. The Panthers have been able to spread the scoring and that should help them out.

Toronto did all it could to withstand Florida in Game 3, but the Panthers even up the series.

Prediction: Panthers win 4-3.

Prop Bets of the Night

We round out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. Let’s stay with our featured game of the night for our favourite prop bets. The over/under for the Leafs and Panthers game is 5.5 and we feel the over is the right play in this game.

For individual props, go with Reinhart to tally point for the Panthers. On the Maple Leafs side of things, take Matthew Knies to get an assist in this game.
