Kings Sign Defenceman Jordan Spence to Multi-Year Contract Extension

Spence’s re-signing highlights the Kings’ ongoing commitment to developing their young talent. With a defensive group made up of veterans like Drew Doughty and Vladislav Gavrikov , Spence represents an air of youth from the blueline. Standing at 5’10” and weighing 180 lbs, Spence combines agility and a high hockey IQ. He’s proven to be a versatile right-handed defenceman.

During the 2023-2024 season, Jordan Spence recorded 24 points (two goals, 22 assists) in 71 games. He has continued to develop as a two-way threat. With young talent like Brandt Clarke developing, the presence of a dependable defenceman like Spence is significant for the team’s future.

The Kings’ coaching staff has focused on Spence’s development through expanding his role on the team. With the influx of young talent, Spence’s goal for the upcoming season is to continue his growth as a two-way defenceman. He will have to grow his game and leadership ability to stay on a Kings team with a lot of defensive talent on the way.

Looking to the Upcoming Season

As the Kings aim to advance past the first round next season, Spence’s performance and leadership will be pivotal. Fans can anticipate his role to increase, especially with Drew Doughty aging. With this multi-year contract, Jordan Spence has not only secured his future with the Kings, but also provides the team with stability on the blueline. His versatility will make him an integral part of the Kings’ plans moving forward.
