Boston Bruins Team Playoff Scoring Leader Out for Game 4 with Injury

May 13, 2024 by Last Word On Hockey

NHL predictions

In Boston Bruins injury news, they announced today that Brad Marchand is out. Tonight is game four of their second round 2024 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs matchup against the Florida Panthers . But they will be without Marchand for at least tonight’s contest. The injury occurred when Marchand collided with Sam Bennett in game three. Currently Marchand is simply listed as day-to-day.

The Brad Marchand injury means the Bruins will be without the captain and one of their top offensive players. In the regular season, he had 29 goals and 38 assists totalling 67 points through 82 games. His 67 points was good for second on the team in scoring. Now in the playoffs, the 35-year-old leads the team in scoring with 10 points in 10 games. However, Marchand brings plenty to his team, beyond just points. He brings his extensive playoff experience, including the 2011 cup ring. Also, he’s the ultimate pest, and all his teammates appreciate everything he brings to the table.

What Does Jim Montgomery think of the Brad Marchand Injury

The Bruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery knows the importance of Marchand’s presence to his club’s lineup. He also doesn’t believe that the collision with Bennett was entirely incidental, especially given his history. Montgomery suggested Bennett “knew what he was doing.” You might think that with Bennett just returning from injury himself, he would not want to jeopardize himself after just getting back into the lineup. However, Montgomery was doing his best gamesmanship, perhaps to prepare his club.

There is a further announcement that Danton Heinen might be ready to go. Heinen has missed the previous five games, but Montgomery said there’s a possibility he returns. The Bruins behind 2-1 in the series to the Panthers, cannot afford further adversity. There are definitely hoping Heinen can return tonight, and Marchand doesn’t miss much more time after tonight.
