Best Dallas Stars By Sweater Number: 41 Through 50

August 16, 2024 by Last Word On Hockey

Today, we continue with another installment of our “Best Dallas Stars By Sweater Number” series with the next 10 players. Here are the best from numbers 41-50.

Best Stars Sweater Number: 41-50

#41 – Brent Gilchrist (Forward)

Gilchrist spent six years with Dallas/Minnesota in the 1990s and early 2000s. He played in 286 games with 124 points during that time and went on to play 15 years in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with Detroit.

#42 – Jon Klemm (Defenceman)

Hall-of-Fame forward Sergei Makarov has a much better resume. However, Makarov played just four games with the Stars franchise. Therefore, the only remaining logical candidate is Klemm. The defenceman lasted 15 years in the NHL, won two Stanley Cups, and played in more than 700 games. He spent three seasons with the Stars near the end.

#43 – Phillippe Boucher (Defenceman)

Valeri Nichushkin has a strong argument here, but the spot goes to Boucher. The defenceman spent six of his 16 NHL seasons with Dallas, appearing in 346 games from 2002 to 2009 and accumulating 162 points. Overall, he appeared in 748 NHL games, won a Stanley Cup, and made one All-Star team. Boucher also garnered consideration for the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenceman in 2006-07.

#44 Jason Arnott (Forward)

Arnott edges out Steve Payne for No. 44. Arnott played in over 1,200 NHL games in 18 pro seasons and spent four years with Dallas. He produced 184 points in 236 games with the Stars and lost a season to the 2004 lockout.

Arnott finished his career 95th in NHL history in goals, was a two-time All-Star, and made the 1993 All-Rookie team.

#45 – Roman Polak (Defenceman)

Polak is the easy choice here as only five people have worn No. 45 for Dallas, and no one else did anything somewhat significant while on the team. Polak played in 806 NHL games and spent the last two years of his career manning the blueline for the Stars.

#46 – Jamie Wright (Forward)

Three players have worn 46 for the Stars, and Wright and Dan Keczmer are the most notable. Having said that, both did next to nothing with Dallas in similar amounts of playing time. They both appeared in about 60 games for the Stars, and Wright’s 12 points edged out Keczmer’s output slightly.

#47 – Alexander Radulov (Forward)

Radulov played for Dallas from 2017 through 2022 and was a point-producing machine with 212 in 294 games. He was a big part of Dallas’ run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020, scoring eight postseason goals. Unfortunately, injuries piled up in the following seasons. and he is now continuing his career in his native Russia .

#48 – Scott Young (Forward)

Young is easily the best Dallas Stars player to wear 48. The 17-year NHL veteran is one of the league’s all-time leaders in shorthanded goals and came up with 757 points in 1,181 games. He won two Stanley Cups (1991 Pittsburgh, 1996 Colorado) and played 14 games with the Stars to close his career.

#49 – Jon Sim (Forward)

Jon Sim and Rhett Gardner are the only two players to have worn 49 for the Stars. Sim was drafted by Dallas and only appeared in 77 games with the team, but he lasted 12 years in the NHL whereas Gardner played just 41 games in his career. Sim was also a Stanley Cup champion as a rookie with the Stars in 1999.

#50 – Krys Barch (Forward)

Only two players have worn No. 50 for the Stars, and Barch is the only one whose NHL career lasted more than seven games. He tallied 26 points in 263 games over six years in Dallas before being traded to the Florida Panthers in 2012. He played an additional 119 games and ended his career with 35 points.
