Warriors Hit With Terrible News on Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade

December 9, 2025 by Heavy

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo may not have much interest in a trade to the Golden State Warriors, per The Athletic’s Sam Amick.

During his appearance on Tuesday’s episode of “Run it Back” on FanDuel TV, Amick said that Antetokounmpo — who has long been viewed as a potential future member of the Warriors — may no longer have the same interest in playing with Stephen Curry.

“There’s been so much smoke in the past about [Giannis] and the Warriors, but I don’t know if he’s looking to go that direction,” Amick said.

The insider added that the Miami Heat has jumped to No. 2 in Antetokounmpo’s list of preferred destinations, if “the Knicks thing isn’t there.”

“He maybe looks at Miami and tries to make that work,” Amick added.

Giannis to Warriors Dream Dead?

It’s no secret that the Warriors have long fantasized about pairing up Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo, with some insiders suggesting that they’ve held onto most of their draft assets and young players specifically for the “Greek Freak.”

To that end, the Warriors rejected trades for All-Stars like Lauri Markkanen and Paul George in recent years, thereby holding onto most of their draft capital.

Unlike teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks , the Warriors can offer the Bucks three first-round picks and a pick swap, besides a trio of young players with upside, namely Jonthan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody .

Shortly after reports emerged of the NBA preparing for a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade this season, insider Jake Fischer reported that the Warriors would be willing to part with all their young assets for the two-time MVP.

Warrors Will Sell the Farm

“Sources say Golden State has never been close to putting both Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski in the same trade conversation — refusing to do so in their 2024 talks with Utah for Lauri Markkanen — just in case the chance emerged to package them both for Antetokounmpo or some other major, major fish,” Fischer wrote in The Stein Line newsletter recently.

Fischer added that the Warriors would even be willing to part with Draymond Green , their longtime defensive anchor, in a potential Giannis trade.

“The Warriors have likewise been reluctant to consider win-now, all-in moves that would require them to trade away Draymond Green, but Antetokounmpo, in all likelihood, would change that equation,” Fischer added. “His availability has the power to change the calculus of damn near every front office around the league.”

The Knicks (+300) remain the betting favorites to pull off a Giannis trade before the Feb. 5 deadline, per DraftKings , followed by the San Antonio Spurs (+450), Atlanta Hawks (+700), Miami Heat (+900), and Toronto Raptors (+1100).

The Lakers (+1800) and Warriors (+2000) are eighth and tenth, respectively, in the list of betting favorites to land the generational Greek superstar.
