The ’04 Pistons were easily one of the best teams of the 2000s. And after defeating the Shaq/Kobe Lakers in the NBA Finals, Rasheed Wallace had an amazing gift for his fellow teammates.
Speaking on his podcast with Underdog Fantasy, Sheed appeared with a WWE-style belt, sharing the story of how he bought one for everybody on the team following their 2004 championship.
I ordered these probably about two weeks after we won the title. … I ordered one for everybody: our GM, assistant GM, trainers, a couple of the media guys, and of course the team. So all in all, I think it was like 40-something belts. … It was the night before the opening game and I hid the belts [in the locker room] … You could see the jubilation on everyone’s face. It was awesome, man.
