I want to see Marcus Sasser buckets and Ron Holland dunks
Basketball is back. The Detroit Pistons are back. There is (another) new era in Detroit. Call me an absolute lick-spittle moron who never learns, but I’m excited. Not so excited that I’m going to be living and dying by Summer League basketball, but it’ll be nice to see some young Detroit Pistons get some shots up.
Speaking of shots getting up, it’s time to reacquaint yourself with Marcus Sasser. During his rookie season in Detroit, the one thing you could say about Sasser is that he was extremely effective in looking for, finding, and calling his own number. And the shots went in at a healthy clip for a large portion of the season. Sasser might not have figured out the nuances of NBA defense or how to effectively run an offense, but he’s a born bucket-getter. Summer League is for bucket-getters.
That isn’t the only intriguing name on the Pistons roster. There is also the team’s most recent No. 5 overall pick among its growing arsenal in Ron Holland. Holland’s athleticism could play well in Summer League if he can get his nerves under control and just relax. There will also be the team’s second-round pick Bobi Klintman, a rangy forward fresh off signing a guaranteed deal with the Pistons.
The opponent is some team called the Sixers .
