The New Orleans Pelicans are undergoing a season from hell, and if Zion Williamson misses another game, it won’t get any easier as they face a Detroit Pistons team looking for some retribution after an extremely tough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. That game saw the ejection of Cade Cunningham, five technical fouls, a masterclass from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and a righteously angry JB Bickerstaff whose 90-second diatribe against the refs will earn him an as yet unspecified fine from the league.
The Pelicans have lost six of seven, mostly to good teams, but Saturday’s road loss to the also-depleted San Antonio Spurs has to sting extra hard. These team will also play March 23 in Detroit, so it will be interesting to see how this game goes and what might carry over into that next matchup.
