Pistons looking to keep pace with Knicks
Despite coming off of two rest days, the Detroit Pistons have played 24 games this season, second only to the Orlando Magic’s 25. That’s two more than the New York Knicks , who host Detroit tonight at Madison Square Garden. These teams have already faced off once before, and the Pistons will be looking for a much better showing than the 30-point blowout inflicted upon them by the Knicks earlier this season.
That first matchup was never competitive, with New York lapping Detroit 39-13 after the first quarter. Jalen Brunson scored an easy 36 points in that game, which led all scorers. The biggest problem for Detroit that game? If you guessed turnovers, which you should have, you would have been correct. Detroit notched 22 that game to New York’s 20. They also hit seven more 3-pointers than the Pistons. Needless to say, neither of those things can be allowed to happen again if Detroit is at all interested in this game being competitive.
The Knicks have won five straight, including two blowouts of the injury-plagued Pelicans and Hornets. If the Pistons don’t bring focus, energy, and execution, it could be an early night.
