JB Bickerstaff wraps up preseason by facing his former team
The Detroit Pistons wrap up what has mostly been a promising preseason, though that might be grading on a curve. Coming off of a 14-win season with a coach that didn’t fit the needs of his roster, and a roster that didn’t resemble anything about the modern NBA, the bar was pretty low. Still, we’ve seen a reasonably spaced out offense, and growth from three key young players, Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Jalen Duren. The biggest offseason addition, Tobias Harris, has been the reliable, steadying presence that was promised, and the other veterans have been respected as floor spacers even if the shot hasn’t been going down as much as you’d like.
Tonight, new head coach JB Bickerstaff faces his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers . He promises that everyone will get to play, so I wouldn’t imagine we’d see the core group for too long. But this is also the last chance to try any lineup combinations that might be worth exploring before the games start to count.
