Lastly, are you as intrigued by the Pistons’ future as you once were? The core young pieces are Cunningham, Duren, Thompson and Ivey. They project to have a significant amount of cap space next summer. They don’t really have any assets to trade, though, and everything I’ve heard and continue to hear is that there are no plans to trade Bogdanović unless Detroit gets an offer it can’t refuse.
The Pistons want to be good and don’t want to trade good players, even if Bogdanović’s role is reduced to a bench scorer next season.

Put the ball in Bojan Bogdanovic’s hands and something’s going to happen. 13-9-5 on 6/13 FG. Just hit Ivey for FTs to go up 4. – 9:30 PM

Bojan Bogdanovic has been back for 11 games, giving the Pistons a lineup that can space the floor and play basketball that isn’t stuck in a phone booth in the 1990s.
Since then, Cade Cunningham is averaging 23.7/4.9/7.0 on 50/31/85 shooting. Down below 3 TOs per game, too. – 10:03 PM

But here is where the Pistons sit: with a 2-29 record, no clear vision for the franchise’s future and no guarantee its run of futility will end anytime soon. “At this point, this is all we have right now,” Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic told ESPN before Thursday’s game. “So you gotta get one W and keep growing, even if it’s hard right now to find anything positive.”

Detroit, on the other hand, has matched the league’s record for futility and could have it to itself with a loss Saturday at home to the Toronto Raptors. After that game, the Pistons begin 2024 with a Western Conference road trip to Houston, Utah, Golden State and Denver. “We’re all human beings. We all know what’s going on and around the league, and what’s going on around our team,” Bogdanovic said. “Still, at the end of the day, if we don’t figure this out, who knows how many games we could lose in a row? So it’s on all of us to take ownership of what’s happening right now.”
