December 27, 2023 by Hoops Hype

Run It Back: “I’m told after the game last night, Cade Cunningham addressed the team, he’s been addressing the team more the last couple of weeks.” @ShamsCharania on Cade Cunningham and possible trades for the Pistons. Charania: “I’m told some of the names to keep an eye on: Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Tobias Harris as well as Miles Bridges”

More on this storyline

“What’s stood out to me is I think, again, his willingness to do—he is willing to understand all the little facets—I keep saying it like he can do a lot of different things, right?” Nurse stated of Harris. “I’m not talking about him shooting the 3, driving the ball, posting up, whatever, he can do a little bit of everything. He can bring it, rebound it, defend multiple positions, all that kind of stuff, and I think what stands out to me is he’s very much in tune with that he is versatile and in tune with being a team player, right?” -via Sixers Wire / December 18, 2023
League sources tell The Athletic that Detroit is expected to be active in trade discussions leading up to the February deadline. Over the next 10 months, specifically, the Pistons will be looking to upgrade their roster significantly. League sources tell The Athletic that the likes of OG Anunoby, Tobias Harris and other proven forwards are going to be targets for the Pistons between now and free agency this offseason . -via The Athletic / December 18, 2023
League sources tell The Athletic that Detroit is expected to be active in the trade market over the next few weeks and are eying a forward. One player I’m hearing that the Pistons are interested in, as is the rest of the league, is Toronto’s OG Anunoby. However, it’s possible Detroit will wait to see if it can land Anunoby in the open market next summer — the two-way wing has a player option for next season that he’ll most certainly decline — and avoid giving up some of its young players. Tobias Harris, who is an unrestricted free agent after this season, is another name the Pistons could target sooner rather than later if he becomes available before the NBA’s February trade deadline. -via The Athletic / December 16, 2023
Josh Lewenberg: 15 5-man units have logged at least 175 minutes together across the NBA this season. Only 1 has a negative net rating: the Raptors starters . The Schroder-Barnes-Anunoby-Siakam-Poeltl lineup has been outscored by 2.8 points per 100 possessions (or by 15 points overall). -via Twitter @JLew1050 / December 22, 2023
Vivek Jacob: Pascal Siakam (1792) passed Alvin Williams (1791) for sole possession of fifth on Toronto’s All-Time Assists List. Siakam joins Kyle Lowry as the only Raptors to rank top-5 in franchise history in points, rebounds and assists. -via Twitter @vivekmjacob / December 22, 2023
With rival teams expressing trade interest in Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, the consensus among the vast majority of NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype was that Siakam would be the one more likely of the two players to be traded. NBA executives exploring the trade market for wings believe Toronto will do whatever it takes to keep Anunoby in free agency this summer after he formally declines his $19.93 million player option. -via HoopsHype / December 22, 2023
In 2015, Detroit was deciding between Stanley Johnson and Devin Booker. It took the former. In 2018, the Pistons selected Henry Ellenson. He was out of the NBA by the age of 24. In 2017, Van Gundy and company decided to go with Luke Kennard over Donovan Mitchell. To put a cherry on top, the pick Detroit sent to the Clippers as part of the Griffin trade ended up being Miles Bridges, who was then traded to the Hornets for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Van Gundy was replaced as head coach in Detroit by then-reigning Coach of the Year Dwane Casey. Ed Stefeanski took over the Pistons’ front office as a buffer until the organization found its next lead decision-maker. -via The Athletic / December 27, 2023
Michael Grange: Bridges and Hayward are out for Hornets. Washington is in. -via Twitter @michaelgrange / December 18, 2023
Adrian Wojnarowski: ESPN Sources: Canada’s decision to deny Hornets F Miles Bridges entry into country is unlikely to be reversed in time for him to arrive for tonight’s game vs. Raptors. Bridges – who plead no contest to felony charge of injuring a child’s parent – was denied border access Sunday. pic.twitter.com/Z4Ajw0FHhJ -via Twitter @wojespn / December 18, 2023
