Pistons interested in Myles Turner, Naz Reid

May 31, 2025 by Hoops Hype

The Pistons are among the teams with interest in Timberwolves big man Naz Reid, league sources say. Detroit is known to covet a floor-spacing big man and, according to sources, is likewise said to hold interest in Indiana’s Myles Turner. Whether the Pistons have a tangible shot at acquiring either player, mind you, is far from clear.

Sat back and learned a lot from ESPN’s Bobby Marks about issues facing the Wolves this summer. Definitely was educated about Naz Reid’s earning power, if choosing to extend. Snippet of my chat w/ Marks + link to all 30+ minutes below. #Twolves #WolvesBack

Naz Reid and Randle should never ever dribble more than once in a row across half court… – 9:11 PM

More on this storyline

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said he believed “it’s a good sign” that Towns was able to remain in the game, and “we’ll see where he is after he gets evaluated” by the medical staff . Towns collided with Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith with the Knicks trailing by seven with 2:11 remaining. He initially was whistled for an offensive foul, but Thibodeau challenged the call and it was ruled that Towns had been pushed into Nesmith by Pacers center Myles Turner. -via New York Post / May 28, 2025
Rival teams remain skeptical at this point, having for generations seen the Pacers make decisions to avoid the tax penalty, as they monitor the Turner situation. But internally the Pacers are hoping to be able to keep Turner without sacrificing their outstanding depth . -via ESPN / May 25, 2025
Fred Katz: FINAL: Pacers 114, Knicks 109 . Pacers lead the Eastern Conference Finals 2-0. • Siakam 39-4-3 • Haliburton 14-8-11 • Turner 16 pts • Brunson 36-3-11 Game 3 scheduled for Sunday night in Indianapolis. -via x.com / May 23, 2025
Reid was the Sixth Man of the Year last season and has become a cult-like figure in the Twin Cities for his rise from undrafted rookie to impact player. He will turn 26 in August and likely will get interest from several teams looking for a dynamic big. The Wolves know how valuable Reid is to the team and the community and will have discussions in hopes of retaining him, team sources said. -via New York Times / May 31, 2025
Brian Windhorst: Well I don’t think they can keep this team together. The core they can but… so Julius Randle’s a free agent. Nickeil Alexander Walker is a free agent and Naz Reid is a free agent. He has an opt out which I’m sure he’s going to take. Ant’s contract is very large. (…) I would be surprised if they were able to re-sign all three guys. I suppose they could trade another player off to keep them, maybe they can, I mean, I don’t know, but I would be kind of surprised if they could afford all three. -via YouTube / May 29, 2025
Reid will be extension-eligible after the draft, and the latest NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement gave teams the ability to start the first season of extended contracts at 140 percent of the salary of the final season of the contract being extended, up from 125 percent. It would suit the Wolves to convince Reid to bypass free agency altogether. They may not be so lucky, however. Reid knows he is good. -via HoopsHype / May 29, 2025
