The Las Vegas Raiders are coming off a Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Moreover, two players on the Silver and Black will also feel a loss in their wallets for the actions in this contest.
On December 6, the NFL announced its fines for the previous week as the league enters Week 14. For Las Vegas, two players appeared on the Gameday Accountability report: Kyu Blu Kelly and Devin White.
As part of the fine process, players are notified when a violation is issued or given the chance to appeal. Moreover, cases are reviewed by appeals officers who are former NFL players, including Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson. They are jointly appointed and paid by the NFL and the NFLPA, with their rulings considered final.
Regarding Kelly, his fine was issued for an incident in the second quarter at the 8:39 mark. The 24-year-old received his fine for unsportsmanlike conduct after making a violent gesture during the loss to the Chargers. As a result, the league is fining him $5,722.
Meanwhile, in White’s case, his incident occurred in the second quarter at the 11:05 mark. The veteran linebacker also received a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct after taunting the opposition. As a result of this incident, the NFL is fining him $6,500.
The two Raiders players will look to turn the page as Las Vegas hosts the Denver Broncos in Week 14.
Raiders’ Pete Carroll Talks Broncos
While the Raiders’ defense will be counting on Kelly and White, the Broncos will be counting on Patrick Surtain II and Nik Bonitto. In three of Denver’s four November victories, the defense held opponents to under 20 points.
As the matchup with the Broncos approaches, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll offered his view of Surtain and Bonitto.
“Surtain, we’ll find out what their game plan is, how they’re going to move him around because they do move him around, and they try to put him where they think the ball’s going, and so they know what they’re doing,” Carroll said on the December 2 edition of “1 on 1.” “The coach does a nice job with them. So that’s just one thing we have to deal with.
“The big fella coming off the edge, he’s been on fire, and he had a huge play. He knocks the last play down, and they had a chance to score, and they’re going to beat him, and he knocks the ball down right out of the quarterback’s hands, and that’s the kind of plays they’ve come up with this season. So those guys are problems. He’ll be roaring off the edge. We have to take care of him.”
Pete Carroll Will Be Fighting to Keep His Raiders Job
Carroll will be leaning on players like Kelly and White on the defense to end the 2025 season on a positive note. The 74-year-old is looking to show that he deserves a second season and not have this campaign go off the rails, ending with only two wins.
On December 6, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on the uncertainty Carroll is facing as part of a broader picture of dysfunction within the Raiders organization.
“Many around the league — and even some inside the building — are wondering if Carroll will survive this season,” Russini wrote. “If the Raiders do move on from him, this isn’t a reset. It’s a reset on the reset. Tom Brady, the player, needed a little time to learn the job. Tom Brady, the owner, may require the same grace.”
