They keep getting away with it
If every game is going to require a furious fourth-quarter comeback and game-winning shot in the game’s final seconds, the Indiana Pacers are happy to oblige. They just keep getting away with it. In game one of the NBA Finals , it was as all of the NBA commentariat predicted. The Thunder managing a double-digit lead for the large majority of the game and everyone waiting for that final punch that would put the game away. The Indiana Pacers, though, do not get shook. They don’t care if you’re up five, 15, or more. They know they can come back. And they came back again in Game 1. Courtesy of a Tyrese Haliburton last-second shot. Natch.
Can we expect anything different tonight? Well, despite going “small” not working in Game 1, the Thunder seem committed to it in game two. They are opting to have Isaiah Hartenstein come off the bench instead of trying to navigate a bad matchup with Pascal Siakam. That was a mini-disaster in Game 1, but, hey, we will see what happens in Game 2.
