Former Suns head coach Monty Williams received a massive payday from the Pistons this week.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski , the Pistons agreed to a six-year, $78.5 million deal with Williams. It’s the largest contract for a coach in NBA history.
While there’s no question that Williams is one of the best coaches in the league, the basketball world can’t believe he landed such a lucrative contract.
“Slept on it. Still can’t believe the Monty Williams contract,” Ryen Russillo tweeted.

Of course, Russillo wasn’t the only person who felt this way about Williams’ contract with the Pistons.
“Shoutout to Monty tho for getting helluva bag my goodness! I bet the other coaches who recently got hired are prolly calling their agents while punching the air as we speak,” one fan said.

“This is like a NBA contract damn,” a second fan commented.
Another fan replied, “That’s an awful lot of money for a head coach.”

Williams was named the NBA Coach of the Year last season. He finished his tenure in Phoenix with a 194-115 record.
The Pistons are hopeful Williams will take the franchise back to the promised land.
