We believe in Cade Cunningham
Today’s the day. The Detroit Pistons will take on the New York Knicks at 6 p.m. EST tonight on ESPN. I find this series to be incredibly interesting, as I think both teams have options to make changes and throw different looks at their opponent. New York can bring Mitchell Robinson off the bench to provide rim protection, or could even play him next to Karl-Anthony Towns. Detroit’s bench has two strong defenders in Isaiah Stewart and Ron Holland, and also has one of the best sharpshooters in the league in Malik Beasley. NBA fans are certainly in for a compelling series, and it all starts tonight.
What better way to make this game even more exciting than a couple of NBA prop bets , via FanDuel?
Cade Cunningham OVER 27.5 points at -125 odds
James Dolan is not the owner of the New York Knicks – it’s Cade Cunningham. In the four games against the Knicks this season, Cade averaged 31 points in 34 minutes per game. In the two games at Madison Square Garden, he dropped 36 points and 29 points, including a triple-double with the latter. The Detroit engine starts and stops with Cade, and I expect him to have another strong game in New York.
Karl-Anthony Towns OVER 23.5 points at -108 odds
KAT is a matchup nightmare – he’s a true 7-footer and one of the best shooters in the league. If you play him too high, he has the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive right by you. In the three games he played against Detroit this season, he averaged 24 points in 33 minutes while shooting 44% from three. I would expect Thibs to play his starters closer to 40 minutes, so KAT should have plenty of opportunities to score against Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart.
Jalen Duren UNDER 10.5 rebounds at -102 odds
Big man Jalen Duren has struggled against KAT and the New York Knicks this season. In four games, he averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds in only 22 minutes per game. I could see JD getting into foul trouble early against KAT. JB Bickerstaff made need to lean on defensive stalwart Isaiah Stewart more regardless, but early foul trouble from Duren could force JBB’s hand regardless. Due to the lower amount of playing time he could see, I’m not sure Duren hits double-digit rebounds tonight.
Malik Beasley OVER 3.5 threes at -106 odds
In what was possibly the best free agent acquisition this past summer, Malik Beasley has been an absolute flamethrower for Detroit all season. That should continue tonight in New York. In the four games against them this season, Beasley averaged 3.8 made threes on 7 attempts in 24 minutes per game. Coaches sometimes shorten their rotation in the playoffs, and if JBB does, I would expect Beasley to see his minutes increase along with his shot attempts. I expect Beasley to get double-digit attempts from deep, and he should be able to hit at least four of those.
