The Knicks had eyes toward a title, now they just want to compete
The Minnesota Timberwolves found themselves down 2-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and with their backs against the wall, won game three by 40 points. The New York Knicks similarly find themselves down 2-0 to the Indiana Pacers. Can they make a statement similar to what the Wolves accomplished? If they are going to do it, it is going to have to be on the road in the unfriendly confines of the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
I’m also not sure what else the stars can provide the Knicks. Minnesota was able to ride a great Anthony Edwards performance in game 3. The Knicks’ best players — Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns — have already been delivering big games and it still hasn’t been enough. One move the Knicks look poised to make is to shake up the starting lineup. The Knicks have been outscored by something like 60 points so far in the playoffs, and so New York will go with two bigs, adding standout Mitchell Robinson to the mix, to see if that will shake loose a winning formula.
After two close contests, I expect this one to be a blowout. I’m just not sure in which direction.
