The NFL is absolutely unpredictable, and to that, most would agree. However, one thing that most in the NFL universe agree on when it comes to that unpredictability is that top-tier starting quarterbacks never get traded by the teams that employ them. This absolutely includes Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Funnily enough, Adam Schefter reported something on a Wednesday morning appearance of “Get Up!” on ESPN that goes completely against that school of thought, and something that wouldn’t seemingly ever be thought possible by any fanbase in the NFL, especially the Cincinnati Bengals.
Adam Schefter Floats Joe Burrow Trade Possibilities

Adam Schefter explained how he believes that a Joe Burrow trade isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility for the Cincinnati Bengals in the future:
“Well, here’s what I’d say to you right now; you have the New York Jets sitting here with five first-round draft picks in the next two years, with the capability to do whatever they want at the quarterback position.”

Adam Schefter bringing up this possibility isn’t like some random account on “X” recklessly speculating about transactions their favorite team could make; this is a universally known NFL reporter who is very in the know floating what would be one of the biggest blockbuster trades in sports history.
Speculation of Joe Burrow Heading To The New York Jets

Like many would think, ESPN Analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky found the idea of the Cincinnati Bengals trading away their superstar quarterback “outrageous”, and it’s hard to completely disagree with that sentiment. However, former NFL and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver stated the following regarding a Joe Burrow trade:
“If you’re able to get a king’s ransom, I don’t think it’s zero percent.”
Former NFL wide receiver Andrew Hawkins
Evan Dammarell of ClutchPoints floated the idea of the Cincinnati Bengals potentially striking up a deal with the New York Jets after their trade deadline haul of multiple first rounders over the next couple of seasons:
“The New York Jets, who traded multiple stars before the deadline, now hold five first-round picks. They have been mentioned as a potential suitor if Burrow ever became available. Yet despite the chatter, the Bengals have made no indication they would entertain offers.”

Obviously, the Cincinnati Bengals deciding to cut bait on their superstar signal caller is very unlikely, it’s not every day that someone with the credentials of Adam Schefter floats the idea that a trade of this magnitude would happen.
Regardless, for 2025, Joe Burrow remains a Cincinnati Bengal, and Bengals fans will hopefully be able to welcome him back to the field later in the season as we approach the playoffs. In the meantime, Joe Flacco will try to will the Bengals to a playoff spot.
