In January, Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey suffered a leg injury. The Indiana native has not suited up since New Year’s Day. However, according to Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, the Pistons have provided a major update regarding Ivey.
According to Spears, Ivey is making progress in his injury recovery. Furthermore, he has been cleared for basketball activity. Based on Spears’ report, Ivey will miss the rest of the regular season. However, he will be re-evaluated in two weeks and could return during the Pistons’ playoff run.

The Pistons’ Outlook Before the Playoffs
With only a weekend of basketball remaining, the Pistons currently own a 43-36 record. Furthermore, they possess the No. 6 seed in the East and are firmly in the playoffs. They are also just two games behind the No. 5 seed Milwaukee Bucks . The Pistons have not won a playoff game since 2008, but it is fair to assume they are ready to buck that trend this year.
After finishing with the worst record in the NBA last year, not many expected the Pistons to make this type of jump. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who is in his first year in Detroit, spoke about the accomplishment, calling it “a big deal.”
“It’s a big deal,” first-year Pistons coach J.B. Bickerstaff said . “We typically don’t take time to reflect on where we are, but this is an opportunity for this group to reflect on where it is, where it’s come from and what it’s been able to accomplish together. To turn it around the way they have and put themselves in this position to play in the postseason, it’s a big deal.”
Furthermore, Jalen Duren spoke about the accomplishment as well.
“People doubted us,” Duren said. “They didn’t believe. They thought it would take longer for us to turn this thing around, but we’re here.
“We’re not done yet. We’re going to take a moment to enjoy what we’ve accomplished, but it’s only milestones. The real goal, obviously, is to bring championships back to our city.”
“We’re happy, but everybody’s mindset is that this isn’t the championship,” Duren said. “We haven’t done anything yet.”
The Last Word
The Pistons are in a good spot as the playoffs approach. Few are expecting them to go on a deep run. However, many might still consider their season a success no matter what. Furthermore, if they can get Ivey back on the court, it should make them even bigger threats.
