I love Cade Cunningham but …
A member of the Detroit Pistons will compete in the NBA All-Star 3-point shooting contest, but it’s not the one everyone was expecting. Cade Cunningham is one of eight players selected to compete in the annual event during NBA All-Star weekend .
Many Pistons fans were hoping that Malik Beasley, who is second in the NBA with 191 made 3-pointers this season, would be selected. Instead, it becomes yet another showcase for Cunningham, who was also named to his first All-Star team and will compete in the new All-Star format on Feb. 16.
Cunningham is hitting just 35.4% of his 3-pointers this season but is also having by far his best season and ascending to superstar status.
Also invited to the 3-point contest were Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks , Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers , Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat, Norman Powell of the Los Angeles Clippers, Buddy Hield of the Golden State Warriors , Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets , and Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks . Lillard will be defending his title last last All-Star weekend’s 3-point champion.
