Bucks View Popular West Guard As Next Big Trade Target

January 7, 2026 by Heavy

The Milwaukee Bucks continue to search for help to improve their chances of title contention behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee has benefited immensely from Antetokounmpo’s injury return to win more games, but they remain behind in the play-in race. Bucks management is rumored to show interest in multiple talented players on the trade block before the deadline.

Brett Siegel reported that Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green is on the radar for the Bucks:

“Jerami Grant and Zach LaVine continue to be among the top trade targets for the team to increase their offensive potential, and the Bucks recently made calls to the Phoenix Suns, checking in on the availability of Jalen Green, sources said.

However, the Suns are not interested in moving the young guard and view him as a potential deadline addition for themselves when he returns from injury.”

Phoenix not having interest in making a big trade just yet may complicate things for Milwaukee. Green has only played two games this season due to injury, so the Suns are not trying to move him too soon. Phoenix wants to see how Green fits in with their overachieving roster before they make any big moves. The Bucks must hope they change their stance or he struggles to fit in before the deadline.

Bucks Have Other Interesting Trade Options

Milwaukee has their eyes on the prize of adding a second player with star potential to team up with Antetokounmpo. Myles Turner is the only player with solid value on the market, but they’d opt to keep him if realistic. Role players Kyle Kuzma , Bobby Portis , and Cole Anthony all have salaries that would match the bigger deals in the league.

Jerami Grant and Zach LaVine were both names in the same report from Siegel as players that the Bucks have interest in. Both are currently playing for struggling teams who may opt to move on from their players in favor of taking a draft pick.

The Brooklyn Nets have seen Michael Porter emerge as a top trade asset on the market if they decide to cash in. Multiple strong players will be available for a trade to give Milwaukee a better roster heading into the postseason play. However, the Bucks only have one realistic move left to make and must thrive or risk dooming the franchise.

Would Jalen Green Help The Bucks?

Green has a higher ceiling than most names on the rumored trade block. The Houston Rockets reached the second seed in the Western Conference last year with Green as a top two player on the roster.

Milwaukee has a few potential paths to take, but one that stands out is their desire to add a dynamic scoring guard. Players like Green or LaVine would create a great set up with easy buckets coming off screens with Antetokounmpo.

Green is a name worth exploring and has a high enough upside to take the gamble. The Bucks are taking a risk hoping any trade target will make them stronger threats in the East. Green at least shows they have some high-powered talent in mind as their dream move.
